The Lion and the Mouse (Fable)

Objective
Students will recount the events of a fable and identify its moral.
Story:
A lion once caught a little mouse. The mouse begged for his life, promising to help the lion one day. The lion laughed but let him go. Later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. The mouse heard him roar, ran to him, and chewed through the ropes, setting the lion free.
Questions:
1. Who were the characters in the story?
2. What happened first, next, and last?
3. What is the moral (lesson) of this story?
Extension Activity:
Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and write one sentence about it.
